BRISBANE
THE CALILE HOTEL
On the buzzy James Street strip sits
the brand new The Calile Hotel, an
“urban resort” designed by architects
Richards and Spence, who have
been responsible for much of the
surrounding dining and shopping
precinct (where you can shop
Bassike, Dion Lee, Zimmermann
and Lee Mathews). This time they
took cues from warm-weather
locales Miami, Palm Springs,
Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City,
bringing an international feel to the
property and its 175 rooms.
If you can’t nab a table at nearby
foodie favourite Gerard’s Bistro, or
at the on-site Hellenika (an outpost of
the much-loved Gold Coast eatery),
pull up a cabana on the pool’s deck
and order from the menu. Once you
eventually retreat from the perpetual
sunshine to your room, you’ll find day
beds and linen robes to help keep
the poolside spirit alive.
