2018 Isle of Man TT

The best

& the rest

Superstock
PETER HICKMAN CLAIMED his first TT
win with a thrilling victory on the
Smith’s BMW in the stocker event.
The BSB star thought he was
out of the running after making
a mistake at Braddan which
forced him to ride around a tree
in the middle of the road! Losing
15 seconds, he had dropped to
10th at Glen Helen but recovered
to hunt down early leader, Dean
Harrison. Setting a new lap record of
134.403mph on the final lap, he pipped
late charger Michael Dunlop (MD Racing
BMW) by 4.5 seconds.

Supersport 1 & 2
IN 2013, MICHAEL Dunlop predicted he would
lap the Mountain Course at 130mph on a 600cc
machine after winning both of the Supersport
events. He took a huge step closer to that
goal at TT 2018 with both 600cc races
producing 129mph plus laps from himself
(MD Racing Honda), who stood on the
top step of Race 1, and Dean Harrison
(Silicone Kawasaki) in the second
encounter.
Dunlop dominated the opening race,
reeling early leader Harrison in with a
new lap record of 129.197mph on his
second lap. The Ulster rider won by 10
seconds with Harrison just managing to
hold off Peter Hickman on the Trooper Beer
Triumph by 0.25 seconds. And it was Harrison
who won the second race with a new race record
and a fastest lap of 129.099mph from Hickman and
James Hillier (Quattro Plant Kawasaki).

Sidecars
BOTH SIDECAR RACES were dominated by Ben and Tom
Birchall who set a new lap record on every lap of the first race
and then became the first crew to lap at under 19 minutes
in the second event with a new record of 119.250mph.
“It was a bit scrappy, but it was fast,” Ben smiled
after setting the new mark that shaved almost 19
seconds off their own record set last year. They
have now been the first sidecar crew to break
through the 117mph, 118mph and 119mph
barriers.
Frenchwoman Estelle Leblond also became the
first female driver to go above the 110mph after her
lap of 110.732mph was posted with Melanie Farnier in
the chair.
