MV Agusta naming one of their bikes

#peopleofbali ... a random guy I
met on a cliff riding around Bali
checking out the surf break ... we
stopped and chatted for a few
minutes and he was headed to
Uluwatu. Don’t you think these
short encounters with strangers
really makes a huge difference
to the way we experience
travelling?
@jamesrocketracing

Sigmund Freud once
famously said that behind
allhateispain,andthat’s
whatwe’veseenlately.Lots
of hate directed towards
Marc Marquez via a unit of
Rossi’s fan base.
They’re turning their pain
of losing towards Marquez
becausehe’sdoingmost of
thewinning,anddetracting
fromtheirVR46infatuation.
Before Marquez, it was
Lorenzo, Stoner, Biaggi
andGibernau,whoover
the years were all sledged
openly by Rossi for certain
racing breaches on track
(onlywhenwinning),and
then afterwards set upon
by the castigation unit of
VR46 fan base and touted as
Evil Doers.

Cairns, Qld
G’day Johno, this is where
my recent editorial about
heroes and villains strays
into grey territory. I certainly
don’t cheer when Marquez
takes the lead of a MotoGP
race, but you’ve got to
admire the guy’s skill – he
can win on the Honda when
it’s good as well as not so
good. He has also introduced
the art of the ‘non-crash’ into
MotoGP. Like Rossi, the sport
would be dull without him.
I just wish he’d stop beating
my bloke, but I don’t hate
him for that. Chris
