Can you describe the look of the
new collection?
I think for the most part they are classic,
my favourites are the “never too late” that
I’m wearing right now, they’re rose gold and
I’ve seen them on a couple of my girlfriends.
They look good. There are also a really
nice pair of sunglasses that have almost
a peacocky fleck through them, they are
absolutely gorgeous!
Any tips on choosing the right frame?
This is where I am a letdown, I wish
there was a trick to getting glasses. Take
a friend! Take someone who is going to be
honest. You need to have had some brain
food or coffee before you go and shop for
glasses. And I sound like an infomercial,
but I really do think it’s a good thing with
Specsavers that you do get two for the
price of one.
Advice for ageing gracefully, especially
in the public eye?
There is definitely a time when I wish
that God hadn’t invented digital, I think
it’s great for when you want to study the
wings of a Christmas beetle, but no-one
ever needs to see their face in that detail. I
would say what I have learned is I am very
diligent with cleansing, I don’t do anything
too extreme but as I started working in TV
and wearing makeup, I loved to get that face
clean at the end of the day! I really think
there is a lot to be said for a muslin cloth
or face towel as opposed to splashing your
face with a cream, cleanser and water. It’s
exfoliation but something you do every day.
Other products you swear by?
Sunblock, for sure! I love makeup and I
love product, but I’m just not that faithful
to any of them. The Elemis [product I] use
instead of a toner—it has a slight exfoliating
quality. If you have a good dermatologist
that gives you the right treatment for your
