is a beautiful bird from
the flycatcher family.
It winters in southern India
and spends its summers up
north in the lower Himalayas.
The bird is a vibrant shade
of blue and like all other
flycatchers feeds on insects.
I took this image while on
a birding trip in Matheran.
Having noticed my presence
the bird was hesitant to take
its bath. But after considerable
waiting â by both parties â
it started splashing about
in the puddle of fresh water.
It curiously peeked out from
behind a rock obliging me
