Thanakha – a paste made from tree bark – is used as sun protection cream in Myanmar as seen on this woman’s face

The highlight of Andrew Snell’s trip was
cycling through the ancient city of Bagan.

After 14 days in Myanmar
I treated myself to a short
stay at Ngapali Beach on the
west coast. I was up and out
early. At the village of Jade
Taw I saw men bringing
their boats ashore from
the night’s fishing. In what
looked like a well-practised
event two women ventured
into the sea to collect baskets
of small fish before laying
them out to dry. I asked
permission before I took this
picture and although shy
the woman let me snap away.

There are only about 2000 Indian rhinos left in the wild

Shekhar Bopardikar is an architect and
a passionate wildlife photographer.

We were three hours into
our safari and had stopped
to watch a rhinoceros quietly
grazing 500m away from us.
Assuming it was oblivious
to our presence I pulled out
my camera to start shooting.
But suddenly I saw that the
rhino had started sprinting
towards us covering almost
half the ground in a matter
of seconds. Luckily our
driver had the presence
of mind to start the vehicle
and beat a hasty retreat.
