16 FOOT SKIFF NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP
Not even a broken mast in the final heat could stop
Manly's Brydens Compensation Lawyers from claiming
a comprehensive win in the 2015 Australian 16ft Skiff
Championships at Belmont. It was Brydens' third straight
national crown and Knapton's seventh title overall, making
him the most successful skipper in 16ft skiff history.
MIRROR DINGHY WORLDS
In January 2015, six Australian teams competed in the International
Mirror Dinghy World Championships near Cape Town in
South Africa. The regatta was conducted on the pristine waters
of Theewater Kloof Dam surrounded by picturesque mountains,
vineyards and apple orchards. There were 59 teams from five
nations. Competitors experienced the full range of conditions from
almost no wind to a steady 25 knots.
FLYING DUTCHMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Nearly 50 FD’s from nine different countries, with crews aged from 16 to 75,
enjoyed a spectacular week of racing on Sydney Harbour hosted by the Royal
Sydney Yacht Squadron. The top
10 was a similarly multi-national
affair with three Hungarians, two
Germans, one Dutch, one New
Zealander and three Australians.
The winning pair won their
first worlds in Adelaide 20 years
ago, and in winning here, with
only two second places as drops,
they confirmed their mastery of
the FD with their 11th World
Championship.
