By the time this edition hits the doormats we
will be in that rather frustrating period when
our lure angling activity increases with the water
temperatures on the rise and the hours of
daylight lengthening yet we near the end of our
beloved river fishing season and are somewhat forced to take to
the still waters. Like it or not, we do have a close season for rivers
so make the most of those last few days and plan to hit some
good lakes and canals in the interim. Talking of canals we have
the AGM and fish-in on the Gloucester canal on April 12th and I
look forward to seeing you there.
We have another action packed magazine for you with plenty of
variety. Dave ‘Daints’ White takes Steve Towson’s regular slot and
shares his own Amazon adventures. I am delighted to welcome
Eric Weight back to the pages with his charming ‘Artificial Lite’
page and Eric Edwards concludes his piece with more great
advice to help us catch big pike. We do get a bit ‘techy’ on the
topic of rod blank characteristics and this theme coincidentally
carries through in a number of features and reviews – if only
we could try before we buy.
We also have three great competitions for you. The new
Spro Addiction rod range looks amazing and represents
superb value and we have one to be won in our ‘Perch Pic’
competition. There is a selection of IDRA lures up for grabs –
these spoons and spinners are extremely well made, and they
work – I had a mid-double first trip out with one of their spinners.
If that wasn’t enough we also have a swimbait package kindly
donated by FishinAddict.
I would like to save the best until last and conclude by welcoming
‘Ditchy’ to the editorial team – a great asset for sure...when you
can extract him from the riverbank. Thanks, as always, to all of
the contributors and supporters
who make this magazine
what it is.
