Sportsmatch introduce a new Picatinny mount for gas-rams

portsmatch aren’t a company

to rest on their laurels, and

the new DM80 Dampa mount

is a good example of their exacting

production standards! Made from

aircraft grade aluminium it’s

specifi cally designed to fi t Picatinny/

Weaver-type rails with cross slots

that act as both locators and recoil

stops. Attachment is by three cross

bolts with screw slots and knurled

heads, which engage in the rails

slots. It’s a belts and braces

approach which may seem a little

unnecessary on airguns; yet with an

increasing number of rifl es featuring

Picatinny rails, selecting an

appropriate mount has never been

more important!

The mount is effectively a

two-part design, with the top section

(rings) sitting on small rubber

bushes. The idea is that the

sometimes harsh, incredibly quick,

two-way recoil, unique to recoiling

airguns, can be absorbed. The

result is that the scope’s lenses are

protected from vibration/shock

damage caused by this type of fi ring

cycle. The modern and growing

trend for gas-ram powered rifl es,

where this two-way action can be
