Got some ammo you need to strip down then get a kinetic bullet puller

W

hen reloading there is
occasionally the need to
safely disassemble
previously or incorrectly assembled
ammunition. A kinetic bullet puller is
often the simplest answer. The Smart
Reloader unit comes with three sets
of jaws, which most common rimmed
and rimless rifl e and pistol cartridges
can be quickly inserted and then
screwed tight within the hammer’s
body. A few short taps onto a hard
surface will see the kinetic energy of
the bullet make it continue in `fl ight`
as the case `stops` within the
hammer and consequently fall out of
the case mouth, safely collected along
with powder into the hollow nose of
the hammer.
Unscrew and tip everything out
into the correct containers for re-use,
nothing is harmed. There are two
identical sets of the jaws in case wear
and tear takes its toll on their

aluminium build, soft enough not to
damage the brass case. You can
also use standard shellholders from
your reloading press or even a Lee
Auto-Prime to speed matters up
even more. Depending on
ammunition type, calibre, weight and
neck tension/crimp, you might need
one or up to three or four hard

bangs to dislodge the projectile.
But fear not, you will soon get the
hang of a couple of fi rm strikes per
round and strangely satisfying as a
stress reliever. Also very safe as
the primer is totally open to the
back of the head and CANNOT be
detonated to ignite the charge
within!
