Brasenose One on the Linear
Fisheries complex in
Oxfordshire has continued its
good form by producing 19
fi sh to 30-year-old Robert
Burgess of Hemel
Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
The TV aerial engineer topped
his catch with mirrors of 32lb
14oz (right), 31lb 1oz (far right)
and 30¾lb (far left) during the
72-hour session. Fishing at 120
yards, Robert offered combi
rigs mounted with Sticky Krill
boilies or wafters tipped with
plastic corn amongst a fi ve-kilo
bed of freebies that he topped up every hour. End tackle
comprised 20lb Korda IQ links, size 6 Kaptor Kurv Shank hooks
and 3½oz distance leads. He also used Free Spirit Hi-‘S’ rods and
15lb Touchdown main line.
Elsewhere on the complex, Mark Betteridge of Shillingford
enjoyed a four-fi sh catch on Oxlease, topped by this 30lb mirror
(above right). The 26-year-old, who works for Drennan
International, targeted a silt channel at 95 yards, where he offered
Sticky Krill wafters tipped with 10 maggots amongst a bed of
matching freebies, corn and wrigglers. Mark’s rigs were tied from
ESP links, size 6 Curve Shanx hooks and 4oz distance leads, and
his set-up featured 13ft 3½lb Nash NXRD rods, Shimano Ultegra

of fi sh over the past week or two.
This personal best 34¾lb mirror
(below right) caught by Samantha
Roberts from Pontypridd was one of
just two carp landed during the
recent ladies’ social on Willow Lake.
The 24-year-old mum told Carp-Talk:
“I caught the fi sh from a margin spot
just off an overhanging tree, which I
prebaited an hour before fi shing,
putting in a few handfuls of hemp,
corn and Red Ball boilie crumb.”
Samantha presented a critically
balanced, trimmed, pink Cnut pop-up
blow-back style on a size 7 Nash
Fang Twister.
Clifford Baker from Hengrove
banked this 33lb mirror (above right)
during a 48-hour session on
Christchurch Lake. The 24-year-old
factory worker tempted the fi sh on a
zig soaked in Liquid Launch at 64
yards.
Andy Edwards was over on
Stoneacre Lake where he managed
to bank this 28½lb common (right),
which he also had at the end of last
year. The Chipping Sodbury angler
fi shed to a marginal shelf at 40 yards
during a four-day session, offering
zigs dipped in Trent Baits Amino 30
Freshwater Shrimp Dip. He used
Gardner Zig-Link, size 12 Drennan
Barbel hooks and 4oz Fox leads on

There have been a few fi sh coming
out of St John’s recently, with the
biggest I’ve heard of weighing just
less than 30lb. Chris Lowe and
Angie Lawley have been amongst
the St John’s fi sh again, landing
eight using black and yellow Avid
ZigLites. Chris had the biggest at
26lb.
On Brasenose One, Andy
Ormrod had eight fi sh to mid-
twenties during a recent session
using 4-7ft zig rigs. Fishing with
him was Lee Dunning, who had
nine to 28lb using the same tactics.
Also fi shing together were Arron
Tolley and Sam, and between them
they landed 47 fi sh, with 12 of them
weighing more than 20lb. Aaron
landed the biggest at 34½lb.
On Brasenose Two, father-
and-son duo Wayne Fearon and
Liam Morgan shared a very nice
30-fi sh catch on AK4R boilies,
pellets and hemp. Since that trip,
Wayne has been back down for
another try. After an unsuccessful
fi rst 24 hours, he moved and went
on to catch 14 fi sh, including two in
excess of 29lb. Small 10mm

boilies doing the trick this time.
