Inside the frame, held
by Velcro, is a chest
harness. The device is
thrown to a conscious
man overboard (MOB),
who places it over their
head and stretches
their arms over the
sides. When the rescuer
pulls on the line the
harness detaches from
the frame and secures
itself around the MOB’s
chest, allowing them to
be recovered in a safe,
‘deckchair’ position.
It all sounds great if
it’s easily understood by
the MOB and rescuer, but it
may prove complicated in use.
It boasts many more features
and accessories, but it’s pricey,
and accessible stowage could
be diffi cult. We will test shortly
