CLASSIC BOAT AUGUST 2016 105
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Main picture: to the left is Siesta, Anker’s last 12-M design, but never built
until now. She has since been launched and was in our recent CB Awards.
Next to her in the foreground is the 1939-built Abeking & Rasmussen 12-M
Sphinx, the initial project that paved the way for the genesis of the boatyard.
The boat hanging from the ceiling is a 15 Square Metre yacht saved from the
chainsaw in Sweden. She is the longest one ever built and named Ramona.
The yard is keen to find a customer who would like the yacht re-built.
The Boatbuilder: Paul Opel dressed
for a mess, because he is ready to
scrape down the antifouling on the
12-M yacht Thea.
The Apprentice: Björn Höfer is one of
the apprentices at the yard, and a
keen sailor.
The Joiner: Roland Korth has been
with the yard since it began eight
years ago, and is in charge of
interiors, cabinet making and
surface coatings.
