big mainsail, small jib and swept-back shrouds don’t do well with straight downwind sailing. Our strategies included
jibing downwind, so the main wasn’t pressed on the shrouds and the jib was kept full or running wing and wing, and
dropping the main completely. Q Seychelles to Comoros (or Madagascar or Mayotte): A breezy, upwind passage
that will be faster with a clean hull. (The warm waters of the Seychelles encourage a lot of marine growth.) Some
cats opted to run their leeward engine at low speed to point higher. Falling off toward Comoros makes it easier to
