MMA Offshore Limited has
agreed to sell its Dampier
and Broome supply base
assets to Toll Group as part
of its rationalisation of non-
core assets to reduce debt
over the 2017 financial year.
MMA will realise about
$44.1million from the sale
of Dampier and $8.7million
from its 50 per cent interest
in Toll Mermaid Logistics
Broome Supply Base.
MMA chairman Tony

Marine geophysical
company Polarcus Ltd has
finalised a contract for 3D
marine seismic acquisition
in Australia.
The program will deliver
a high-quality broadband
dataset using one of the
company’s Polarcus X-bow
vessels operating under
the Polarcus Explore Green
environmental agenda.
The project is due to
commence in the third
quarter of this year and
is expected to run for
approximately two months.
Polarcus has already
begun building a high-
resolution broadband
3D seismic data library
over the north-west shelf
of Australia which will
provide opportunities for
reduced risk, and play-based
exploration targeting Triassic
and Jurassic structural and
stratigraphic targets.

MD Jeff Weber said: “We

MMA’s business strategy.”
MMA will maintain an
office at Dampier Supply
Base to support operations
and clients in north-west
Western Australia.
As part of the agreement
with Toll, MMA will operate
the Dampier Slipway facility
for at least 12 months, and
will continue to use the
Dampier Supply Base to
support vessel operations.
The transactions are
subject to regulatory and
other approvals.
FOURTH STEBER FOR
SEYCHELLES RESORT
Steber International has
started on a fourth vessel
for the Fregate Island
Resort in the Seychelles.
Due for delivery later
this year, the Steber 5200
(52ft) will be used for
resort activities including
extended excursions,
gamefishing and diving.
it features two sleeping
cabins, two lounge areas,
a galley, two bathrooms,
an inflatable dinghy and
crane, and extra deck
seating for scenic tours.
The 5200 takes the
fleet to four. The first was
delivered in 1999, and last
year Fregate took delivery
of a Steber 3800 for island
to mainland transfers.
Testing of a new bycatch
device in the Northern
Prawn Fishery (NPF)
achieved a 35 per cent
reduction in bycatch,
figures that were
confirmed by the CSIRO
working alongside AFMA,
the Australian Fisheries
Management Authority.
The new device –
Kon’s Covered Fisheye
- was developed by
Kon Triantopoulos and
is a modification of an
existing device already
approved by AFMA.
AFMA staff spent more
than 1200 hours at sea
during the trial, sorting
prawns and bycatch, and
recording the results.
