B
ermuda will become the
epicenter of the sailing world
this summer when it hosts
the 35th America’s Cup and guests
at Rosewood Tucker’s Point can now
catch all the action from classic yacht
Mariner III. The 88 room resort,
nestled on Bermuda’s prestigious
northeast peninsula, has chartered
the 122 foot yacht so that visitors can
enjoy every moment of racing action
in complete luxury.
Taking place from May 26 until
the end of June, the America’s Cup,
presented by Louis Vuitton, will see
the best sailing teams from around the
world compete for the Auld Mug – the
oldest trophy in international sport,
dating back to 1851. It begins with the
Louis Vuitton Cup Qualifiers and
Challenger Playoffs, where the five
challenger boats, from New Zealand,
France, the UK, Sweden and Japan,
compete for the right to take on
defending champions Oracle Team
USA. The America’s Cup Match begins
on June 17 and Tucker’s Point guests can
purchase tickets for the spectator yacht
for every race day.
Leaving in the morning from the
resort’s own dock, guests will enjoy
privileged access to the race course
while sampling fresh cocktails and
cuisine from the hotel’s executive chef,
Gerry Adams. Built in 1926, Mariner
III has a large open deck that will offer
unparalleled viewing of the racing.
Rich varnished teak, gleaming brass
and hand-crafted beveled lead crystal
windows from Paris are just some
of the elegant details on this stylish
charter yacht.
After a fun-filled day at sea, Mariner
III will return spectators to the 240
acre residential and resort community,
which offers breathtaking views of
Castle Harbor, Harrington Sound and
the Atlantic Ocean. Opened in 2009,
the resort was the first new luxury hotel
in Bermuda for more than 40 years and
the first on the island to offer fractional
ownership clubs, in addition to whole
ownership homes.
Back on dry land, guests can make
the most of Tucker’s Point’s excellent
facilities. These include the acclaimed
18 hole golf course, which overlooks the
water, tennis courts and lessons from
a pro, a croquet lawn, a beach club
on Bermuda’s longest private pink sand
beach and two freshwater swimming
pools, a 12,000 square foot spa and
a fine dining restaurant, The Point.
