WHAT IS IT? From Nauta Design comes a 245ft
masculine explorer dressed as a superyacht.
WHY WE LOVE IT It’s got everything you need
to go off the grid – ice class hull, heated glass system,
diesel-electric propulsion, big tenders, a submarine
garage and more for long explorations in uncharted
areas. Aesthetically, the holistic design blends
interior and exterior spaces, and the owner’s
apartment is particularly impressive, including
a private deck with pool and helicopter pad.

MUNDUS
WHAT IS IT? Vripack’s commission by
an American owner who wants to use this
260ft explorer as his home from home.
WHY WE LOVE IT Vripack designed
Mundus from a human perspective, which
resulted in thoughtful details like the partly
raised floor in the observation lounge for
clear views out and balconies placed in wind
shelters. A home just isn’t a home without
a gentleman’s library and fireplace. Likewise,
no explorer yacht is complete without
a proper pool that doubles as a helipad.

500FT ICEBREAKER
WHAT IS IT? A first look at Seattle-based JQB Design’s 500ft concept, designed for polar-class icebreaking operations.
WHY WE LOVE IT It’s massive, yet, thanks to Jonathan Quinn Barnett, its perfect proportions and relatively low profile
mean it’s also extremely elegant. Those windows on the main and upper decks are double height, affording extraordinary
views from within. Forward-facing laser ice-cutting cannons aid in navigation during heavy ice conditions, and its
all-ocean capability means it could serve as a research platform in addition to being a luxury superyacht.

COUACH 3 800
Lounge explorer
WHAT IS IT? The latest in
Chantier Naval Couach’s Lounge
collection of modern explorers.
WHY WE LOVE IT This is
adventuring in style. What else
would you expect from the French?
This 124 footer has both the robust
hull design to handle any seas and
villa-like interior styling, with floor
to ceiling windows and open plan
spaces that will have guests
forgetting they are on a yacht. A
unique glass door to the beach club
makes it a perfect observation
room when under way.

ER 13 0
WHAT IS IT?A go-anywhere yacht from Canadian designer Ivan Erdevicki,
combining style and substance in 130 feet.
WHY WE LOVE IT Its contemporary looks belie its explorer yacht capabilities.
Behind the graceful lines is a steel hull with a low centre of gravity for excellent
seakeeping and systems with plenty of redundancy. Maximizing interior volume
and infusing it with light increases comfort during long voyages. And a practical
length and shallow 6ft draft will keep all anchorages within reach.
