service for men and women at its first US store, which
opened last September in SoHo, New York. A 3D scanning
machine in-store casts your foot shape and creates a mold
that ensures a perfect fit. With 12 leather options – including
exotic skins such as ostrich and crocodile and unusual ones like
camel and kangaroo – the boots come in a range of colors and seven
styles. Custom boots are ready in six to eight weeks. Four stores are planned to
open this year in the South and on the West Coast, so these classic boots will

notice three distinctive tropes – Timeless
Classic, Minimal Modernist and Over The
Top – with each making a statement about
the person who wears it.
Personally, I’m a Timeless Classic type and the
recently updated Piaget Altiplano collection, inspired
by the house’s lovely ultra-thin watches introduced in
1957, hits all the right notes. Each model in the 11 piece
collection is resplendent, but there is something about
the 43mm 18kt white gold and blue dial version, with
its Calibre 1200P movement – a mere 2.35mm thin –
that makes it close to perfect.
For a watch design that’s a little more outré, the
stainless steel cushion-case Ressence Type 1² is
a consummate representation of the Minimal
Modernist. The dial, a masterpiece to behold, is based
on the Ressence Orbital Convex System and looks and
