Motor Boat & Yachting — November 2017

BOAT MASTER FINDME A USED...

A new model in 2000, the F37 was an
evolution of the 360 Senator, itself an
upgrade of the 350. That said, Sealine
did a good job of putting a fresh face
on the established model. The exterior
window line is far curvier and the
stainless-steel trims around the
windows and rubbing band add class.

INTERIOR
Rather than the single large heads of
boats like the Princess 360, the F37
gives the shower and toilet separate
compartments. It was even possible

to option a second toilet for the
shower area, ideal for two cruising
couples, especially with the optional
guest cabin conversion that made the
twin berths a double. In the saloon,
US-spec boats got a settee opposite
the large converting C-shaped settee
to starboard, the UK a lift-up breakfast
bar and a comfy armchair to port.
The US layout soon became standard.

EXTERIOR
The layout is conventional but there
are some neat Sealine touches. The

flybridge helm seat swivels through
90° to create a more social area at
rest, the trailing edge of the flybridge
overhang sports a clamshell opening
locker for canopies to roll into, and
four (rather than the usual two)
spring cleats are a useful bonus.

PERFORMANCE
Cummins were a US-spec option,
a pair of 6TBA 5.9M2 330hp units
giving about 33 knots. In the UK, it
was predominantly Volvo Penta. Twin
KAMD 44 (260hp) give mid twenties,

the marginally more powerful KAMD
300 (285hp) adding a knot or two.
Later boats got the newer D4 motors
at 260hp and 300hp, the latter
restoring a 30-knot performance.

SEAKEEPING
In 2000, MBY put an F37 through its
paces in challenging conditions off
Miami, reporting ‘upwind, downwind,
and in beam seas... the ride is pretty
soft and more comfortable than you’d
expect from something on the short
side of 40ft’.

2003 £129,950
