The boat you want is easier to find tradeboats.com.au^15

There’s no such thing as a
five-minute job with a boat
but having it near your home
or office ensures you’re not
wasting time on travel.
Sydney City Marine in
Rozelle says that’s the benefit
it offers Sydneysiders. The
team has experience with
planing hull powerboats,
displacement cruisers,
sportsfishing boats, even
superyachts. Indeed, many
sailing yachts would have
been commissioned there

after clearing customs, so
they’re well placed to carry
out repairs and maintenance
since they put it together in
the first place.
Regardless of size or
material – GRP, steel, timber,
carbon, alloy or composite

  • SCM has the facilities
    and the marine mechanics,
    engineers, electricians,
    riggers and other crew
    to take of your boat’s
    annual spruce-up, serious
    modifications, repower, race

preparation or anti-fouling
and painting.
Vessels from six to 60m
can be handled, thanks to
a 45-tonne submersible
trailer, 100-tonne travelift
with 7m beam, and even an
800-tonne shiplift.
The facility is under
cover at Rozelle and houses
Australia’s largest climate-
controlled spray booth,
all part of gaining ISO
accreditation.
What this means for

owners is the possibility of
your boat being lifted out, jet
washed, sanded and sprayed
with fresh antifoul in three
days, with a booking just
two weeks in advance. That
means you can enjoy your
boat one weekend, then have
it refreshed and back out in
time for a mid-week sail to
entertain friends or clients a
few days later.

TIME SAVER ON THE DOORSTEP

Available to match with
B&G, Simrad and Lowrance
sailing instruments, Navico
has launched its fully
integrated Class-B AIS
transponder, the NAIS 500.
The NAIS 500 ensures
your vessel is seen on
other vessels’ displays –
essential for navigating
busy shipping lanes and
congested ports. Yet the
unit is small, weighing just
250g, IPX7 waterproof rated
and includes a dedicated
GPS-500 receiver. It also

boasts low power draw.
The transponder sends a
signal to other vessels in the
area, allowing you to plan
avoidance manoeuvres well
in advance. Compatible
with NMEA 2000, NMEA
0183, NMEA 0183
multiplexing and USB,
the NAIS 500 is simple
to install and capable of
withstanding the harshest
offshore conditions and
has a low average power
consumption of 180mA at
12V DC.

“Most commercial
ships are required to have
AIS onboard. The NAIS
500 works with [our]
multifunction displays
to provide sailors with
the peace of mind that,
regardless of the sea
conditions, they will be
visible to traffic,” said Leif
Ottosson, CEO, Navico.
Pairing the NSPL-
VHF splitter box with the
NAIS-500 allows you to use
a single VHF antenna for
the NAIS 500 and a fixed-

mount VHF radio.
See http://www.bandg.com,
http://www.lowrance.com or

for your system’s NAIS 500.
