to a hosepipe. It will fill bottles

This compact 0.2 micron filter is
intended to enable hikers to fill
bottles from lakes and streams
without fear of contamination. It
weighs only 550g — less than the
weight of the water you’d need
for a full day on shore for a
party of more than a two or
three people — and has an
output of one litre per minute.

as an XC45. It was devised by Tom Logisch, the German company.
It has a three-stage treatment process with separate tanks for each
phase, each of which lasts for 24 hours. Once the process is complete
the residual waste can safely be discharged. The system is available in
sizes from 120 litres upwards, the equivalent of a 40-litre holding tank.
It comes in a variety of customised shapes to fit different on-board

even after an unintentional soaking. The key
feature is the water-repellent, stretch fabric
used at the ends of the garments, highlighted
in the dark areas of the image. The rest of
the base layer is made of a dual-knit fabric,
which has a combination of hydrophilic and
hydrophobic properties that help to rapidly
transfer moisture away from the skin and
allow it to evaporate from the outer surface.
In addition, an antibacterial treatment is used
to help reduce odour after extended use.
