EDITOR’S LETTERThere are now more than 10,000 superyachts in the world, if you consider
a superyacht, like we do, as anything over 79ft (24m) LOA. The number ticked
up into five figures in the middle of Q2 this year. I’m still harassing our data
team to find out which boat was the actual 10,000th (we should send some
champagne, surely), so they’re nose down in spreadsheets trying to figure
it out. We’re also facing the possibility that this year will be the strongest for
brokerage sales since 2008. With the fleet ever expanding and all these boats
changing hands it’s no wonder the world’s refit yards are packing them in
and reporting great results (page 22). Your shiny new boat stays shiny for only
so long, after all. If you’re thinking about your own refit project, take some

round-up of refit yards on page 35 to figure out where to send your boat. See?
