RAWHITI
RAWHITI is pleased to bring you the season’s greetings. She’s
the well-known Logan Bros keel yacht built for export to
Sydney in 1905 and sailed across the Tasman. After 40 years in
Australia she was bought by Hec Marler of Herne Bay and sailed
back in 1946. Now, after a remarkable restoration to original,
she sails on the Waitemata with the Classic Yacht Association of
New Zealand.
CELOX
CELOX was one of the outstanding mullet boats of all classes.
Arch Logan designed her and Logan Bros built her in late 1908
for Tom Percy of Parnell. The Auckland ballasted centreboard
mullet boats, in four length classes, 20ft, 22ft, 24ft and 26ft,
had become increasingly sophisticated since 1900 and were
magnificent racing and cruising yachts by 1908.
The Ponsonby Regatta Restrictions operated to ensure that
they could not stray far from their recent origins as fishing boats.
