PRODUCT GUIDE

Stage V mining engine
Suitable for excavators, dump trucks
and front-end loaders, Cummins’
(Columbus, Ind.) QSK60 Stage V engine
is available from
1398-2125 kW
(1875-2850 hp)
with a peak
torque of 11,218
Nm (8,274 lb-ft).
Cummins select-
ed SCR as the best solution to meet
Tier 4 Final and Stage V, saying it deliv-
ers the best balance of installation, ef-
ficiency and total cost of operation. The
fully-integrated aftertreatment unit re-
places the exhaust muffler, minimizing
design modifications. The SCR system
reduces NOx to the required level and
features an integrated decomposition
chamber and Cummins’ airless dosing
system designed to last the life of the
engine. The QSK60 platform delivers
high reliability, and durability, with no
loss of power or torque. Heat rejection
is similar to the Tier 2 engine, so there is
no need to re-engineer the cooling
package.

Fully integrated electric axle
Allison Transmission’s (Indianapolis,
Ind.) ABE Series e-axle advanced ultra-
low floor electric bus powertrain system
integrates dual electric motors, a single-
or multi-speed gearbox (depending on
e-axle model), oil coolers, pumps and
power electronics into a bolt-in system
that replaces the entire traditional pow-
ertrain within the existing frame. It
meets the power and space demands of
the transit bus industry, including heavy
double-decker, articulated and three-
door buses. The ABE Series can operate
without restrictions at regular highway
speeds and on all allowable grades. The

Powershift transmission
The Spicer TE50 powershift transmission
developed by Dana Inc. (Maumee, Ohio)
is designed for large load-haul dumpers,
trucks used in underground mining and
wheel loaders. Engineered for vehicles
from 400 to 600 kW (544 to 816 hp),
the Spicer TE50 transmission offers im-
proved fuel efficiency, smoother shifting,
more precise vehicle handling, and opti-
mized braking. The Spicer TE50 trans-
mission is engineered to fit within cur-
rent vehicle design
envelopes and is
offered with a
four- or eight-
speed gearbox
that provides opti-
mized shifting ra-
tios. It is available
with advanced
automatic lockup, which improves fuel
efficiency by enabling direct drive even
at low speeds. An integrated, automatic
retarder reduces brake wear and enables
smoother, quieter braking. The transmis-
sion is slated to launch with vehicle man-
ufacturers in the second half of 2019.

12.5-L engine
The Cat (Peoria, Ill.) C13B leverages a
proven, reliable core engine with more
than 109 million off-highway field hours
combined with design improvements to
create customer value, allowing OEMs
to downsize their engine platforms,
lower installation costs and maximize
uptime. The 12.5-L engine features a
patented non-EGR aftertreatment sys-
tem to meet EU Stage V and U.S. EPA
Tier 4 Final emission standards and is
available in multiple power ratings from

Fuel-line valve
Designed for fuel supply line emergen-
cy shut-off applications, Global Sales
Group’s (Redmond, Wash.) EZ Oil Drain
Valve EZ Fuel Line Valve features a le-
ver-locking design, but the lever locks
in the “open” position instead of the
“closed” position. It incorporates the
same ball-valve design as previous
models, as well as the special O-ring

design and nickel-plated exterior. New
features include an adjustable lock nut
and red-colored handle. The lock nut
can be used to adjust the final position
of the valve, allowing operators to in-
stall the valve in any position. In addi-
tion, the new red-colored handle cover
improves visibility and allows easier
access of the handle when fuel needs to
be shut off immediately. It is available in
M16-1.5 thread.

system can handle 100% torque in re-
generative braking. It features an axle
rating up to 28,660 lb (13 tons). With
dual motors, it has continuous axle out-
put power of 536 hp (400 kW) and
peak output power of 738 hp (550 kW).

340 kW (456
hp) to 430
kW (577 hp)
with peak
torque reach-
ing 2634 Nm
(1943 lb-ft).
The new engine offers peak power
across a wide speed range enabling
OEMs to optimize machine perfor-
mance based on their application
needs, plus it features high torque rise
for load acceptance. The new after-
treatment system uses diesel oxidation
catalyst, diesel particulate filter and
high-efficiency selective catalytic re-
duction technologies.
