A

irVenture Oshkosh 2018 was
deemed the most successful in the
organiser’s (Experimental Aircraft
Association/EAA) history, bringing
in around 601,000 visitors, almost 2%
above last year’s record. Chairman, Jack
Pelton, said: “EAA members and aviation
enthusiasts attended in large numbers, even
without the presence of a military jet team as
we had in 2017. Our efforts to create unique

attractions and aviation highlights across
the grounds were incredibly successful.
Attendance on opening day was the best
in our history, as the vast majority of our

guests came to Oshkosh early and stayed
throughout the week.”
As usual the event was held at Wittman
Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with
over 10,000 aircraft ying into the air eld,
using the seaplane base or surrounding
airports. At Wittman alone, there were
19,588 aircraft movements in the 11-day
period from July 20 to 30, which averages
out at 134 take-offs/landings per hour. Poor
