Test Chambers
Recreating environmental conditions
in the laboratory is the only way to
test components properly before they
enter the real world. But most of the
environmental chamber systems are
not flexible in size. The ET and EM
series showcased by the Bangalore-
based Envisys Technologies provide
flexible choices and the very latest
technologies for environmental testing
including custom sizes and custom
features.
The ET series is capable of addressing
varied volumes to suit product/
component-level environmental testing
applications for temperatures ranging
from -70 degrees C to 180 degrees C
and 10 percent to 95 percent relative
humidity. The EM series is suitable to
test smaller products such as electronic
and automotive components, as these
chambers have a compact design that
allows them to be easily mounted on a
bench or table-top. The company also
has a range of salt spray chambers for
corrosion resistance testing.
Getting things up and down to
temperature is a perennial problem for
those using environmental chambers.

To provide support, the
Hyderabad-based Weiss
Technik India presented its
new Clime Event and Heat
Event environmental chambers
that can reduce heating and
cooling rates, saving test time.
By reinjecting the refrigerant
before supercooling and
assembling the liquid line with
the suction line, Clime Event
heats up and cools down more
quickly. It is also more energy
efficient than most of the
systems in the range.

Power Amplifiers
Ensuring that electrical tests are
conducted to industry standards,
such as ISO 16750, LV124, LV148
and ISO 7637, is critical for engineers
testing automotive components. These
issues are addressed by SIB 100-TS
series linear precision four-quadrant
power amplifiers, manufactured by
SIBO Electronic Vertriebs GmbH.
The equipment is suitable for fast
voltage and current signals. All curves
relevant for those standards are
stored within the integrated curve
library. With extremely high bandwidth
at the highest power requirements
necessary for fast signals, the modular
design allows systems up to 18kW.
Furthermore, the company’s easy-
to-use WaveMaster software allows
for the generation of waveforms by a
graphical user interface or via tabular
input without the user requiring any
knowledge of software development.

Crash Test
Capturing the action from various
angles and heights is crucial for crash
testing. Besides, it often requires
connecting multiple high-speed
cameras. To address this issue, the
New Jersey-based Vision Research
has introduced the Miro Junction Box
2.0 to make this connection process
easier than ever. The original Miro

Junction Box (JBox) connected up to
six Phantom Miro cameras, but JBox
2.0 can connect six Miros, or up to four
VEO cameras, or a combination of the
two. Along with JBox 2.0, the company
exhibited its sturdy VEO 710 camera,
which offers a frame rate of 7,000fps
at a maximum 1Mpx resolution, and
the tiny Miro N-series, the capability of
which has been expanded to enable it
to operate independently, without JBox.

Road Simulator
For the requirements of passenger car
and truck test applications, including
durability, NVH, buzz, squeak and
rattle, and inline production quality,
MTS has offered a new line of
durability-capable Model 320 ePost
tyre-coupled road simulators. The
specialty of the equipment is that it
expands the application scope of
the electrically actuated segment of
its Model 320 system (four-poster)
portfolio. The new ePost systems
employ proprietary, MTS-designed
linear electric actuators. Optimised for
rigorous durability drive files, these
high-performance actuators feature
lightweight armatures with liquid
cooling and an advanced bearing
system to maximise actuator life.

Portable DAQ Device
Celebrating 22 years in the field of
testing, the Michigan-based Vibration
Research introduced ObserVR1000,
a fully autonomous data acquisition
device that is specially designed
and engineered to provide reliable
performance, accurate testing and user
friendliness. It can be simply connected
to a smartphone, laptop or PC to set
up the ObserVR1000. Once set up,
data is collected with a simple press of
the record button. The ObserVR1000
comes in four or 16-channel packages
that include GPS, microphone,
tachometer, high sampling rate, TEDS
and wi-fi capabilities, among many
other options.
