Indy Oil Pioneers Technology in SA

Analytical Centre uses the latest, state-of-the-art equipment

ndy Oil, a G.U.D. Holdings company, has invested in a state of the art Analytical Centre,

to ensure its range of lubricants and chemicals remain at the cutting edge of technology.

A grand opening for the Analytical Centre was held in November last year at the Indy

Oil blend plant in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu- Natal. The 75m² laboratory features high

tech lubricant testing equipment that exceeds international industry standards.

According to Alex van den Blink, technical director,

G.U.D. Holdings, the Indy Oil Analytical Centre is

the fi rst laboratory in South Africa to have an Ultra

Shear Viscometer. It uses the latest technology

to test the viscosity performance of Indy Oils’

engine lubricants, against the high speeds and

temperature demands that lubricants are exposed

to in a modern engine.

“We are also excited about our new inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer – a

highly sophisticated instrument that is a rarity in SA labs. It allows for metals analysis to be done,

aiding in oil-condition monitoring programmes that require component wear and fatigue to be

regularly checked,” says Alex.

Indy Oils’ investment in advanced equipment of this kind attests to their commitment to off er a

premium quality product that is blended and tested to meet OEM specifi cations and international

lubricant and chemical standards approval.
