French-Lebanese Fusion

in a sleepy street in one of the exclusive
neighbourhoods in the French capital is where
you will find the Alan Geaam Restaurant. The chef’s
eponymous restaurant is a chic table where the chef
serves a French-Lebanese fusion cuisine where the
French culinary savoir-faire and Lebanese zesty taste
come together, bringing original and flavoursome
dishes to your table. The menu regularly changes
but could include dishes such as porcini mushrooms
served with a creamy foam of halloumi cheese with
shavings of macadamia nuts, and lobster served
with carrots marinated in arak, a very popular anise-
flavoured distilled alcoholic spirit in Lebanon. The
modest menu offers diners a choice between two
starters, two mains and two desserts, while diners with
special dietary restrictions are treated to off-menu
options. - S.i.

Steak and Frites

You cannot be in the French capital and
not settle in for an authentic brasserie meal,
and more specifically steak and fries. One
of Paris’s most reputable steak houses, Au
Boeuf Couronné, just opposite the Cité de
la Musique is renowned for its meat dishes,
serving everything from steak tartare to rib
eye, with the house’s famous Angus T-bone
steak for two one of the establishment’s most
hearty dishes, weighing in at 1.2 kilos. While
this address is not a vegetarian’s best friend
the restaurant does have some choices,
albeit limited, for guests accompanying meat
lovers, including tuna tartare and smoked
salmon, while diners who do not eat fish will
be limited to the sides, which include the
famous fries, green salad and healthy green
beans, leaving room for dessert, including
one of the best Pain Perdu in the city. - S.i.
