The money you can spend on
suspension mods is limitless. But,
according to factory mechanic Jay
Foreman, from All Pro Racing and RG3
Suspension, just because you spend more
than your mates doesn’t mean you’re going
to be faster or that your suspension is going
to be better.
In fact, depending on your skill level and
weight, sometimes a simple re-valve could be
the best option. The Suzuki RMX450Z comes
standard with softer springs than the RM-


Z450 motocrosser. Our guess is that
Suzuki has attempted to make the
bike feel a little more ‘enduro’ for an
average-sized rider. That’s a long way off my
100kg with gear and I desperately needed
the motocross springs.
For most trailriders the MX suspension will
feel a little harsh, but for bigger blokes like
me, it’s actually better to run the motocross
suspension out of the RM-Z, only with
different valving.
