If you think Queenstown, New Zealand, is an
odd place for a launch you clearly haven’t
been there. It is an epic location, with some
of the best scenery in the world.
Unfortunately, it was really dusty, but hosts
the Columbs, from Off Road Adventures
Queenstown, ensured the riding was still at a
premium and all journos were given free
reign on their large property to do whatever
we saw fi t to test the YZ450FX’s ability.
We kicked off the day on a fast, race-like,
test loop (in keeping with the YZ450FX’s
intended purpose) before heading off for a
long trailride that included everything from
singletrack to fi re roads, hill climbs and even
a few deep river crossings (glad the airbox is
above the saddle).
