its coupe-like appearance, which gives rise
to a slightly cramped interior, especially
at the back when where the roof tapers
down. However, this is negated once
one climbs into the driver’s seat, which
presents a great driving view forward.
Not only is the flat-based steering wheel
wrapped in classy leather, the new-
generation Mercedes Benz COMAND
system is laid out for easy operation,
allowing one to select favourite tunes
while making short work of the roads.
The engine is nothing short of
breathtaking, thanks to AMG’s
involvement. Nestled beneath the large,
vented bonnet is a biturbo V6 unit that
has been created by the AMG dark
magi, capable of boosting 362bhp and a
whopping 520Nm of torque. Naturally,
distance is quickly covered when the
2.2 ton behemoth leaps from 0-100km/h
in approximately 5.7 seconds, with the
9-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox
firing away in rapid succession, before the
car hits its unholy top speed of 250km/h.
With the AMG prescription coursing
in the veins of the GLE450 AMG, the
suspension is naturally taut and stiff,
even on its most drive-easy setting.
Most minute imperfections are absorbed
with relative hush, however the car
makes you fully aware of its race-bred
nature, bopping over the larger road
crevices with much sensitivity. That aside
