folding backrest and a large sunroof
that allows me to bask in the sun.
Power, while not exactly GTR-beating,
is enough for me. Will get rid of the
original alloys for something sexier...
The last car I would like to have
in my garage? The Mazda MX-5,
with the precise 6-speed manual
transmission; yes, I ‘m referring to
the latest model. Driving with the
roof down, it provides a back-to-basic,
sensational driving experience that is
simply unforgettable. Especially late
at night where traffic is light and you
have the roads all to yourself; and Sam
Smith playing on loop. Changing gears
and attacking corners will surely deliver
a wide smile on my face, the sort that
would even put the Joker to shame.
I haven’t finished yet though. In
respect of my late dad, I would scour
the market for a Triumph Spitfire and
MG Midget (both were his favourite
cars), then preserve it from the ground
up. You name it: Stripping the body
and tightening the entire chassis
again, rustproofing, a new coat of paint
(Spitfire will be in Sexy Red and Midget
in British Racing Green), refreshed
drivetrain, a whole new interior – the
full works. Showing up at every Cars
& Coffee with period-correct clothes
from head to toe would be awesome!
As you can see, it will be an
eclectic mix of cars in my collection.
From the classics all the way to the
modern ones. I should’ve bought
myself the Toto ticket. Then again,
the chances of winning would be,
well to be conservative, 1,000,000:1?
Oh well, back to reality, and back
to working for my money...
