Electro-Voice Receives Great Feedback From

Football Fans

T

he home to the Australian Football

League, Patersons Stadium in Western

Australia kicked off the 2014 football

season with a new Electro-Voice (EV) sound

system.

Through acousti c modeling, Bosch's Bryan

Davidson determined that the most suitable

loudspeaker system for the venue was

the combinati on of EVH 1152, ZX5PI and

EVF 1122 loudspeakers, for the variety of

diff erently shaped stands at Patersons. 22 x

EVHs were suspended from the seati ng areas

underneath the roof trust fi ring down to the

lower seati ng bowl.

“The EVH is a fantasti c loudspeaker as it

maintains patt ern control down to 500 Hz,

allowing sound to be focused on the targeted

audience and kept off the fi eld of play,”

commented Davidson.

EVF loudspeakers were chosen for the

upper seati ng level as it only had a short

throw distance from source to listener. EV

custom built 120-degree HF dispersion was

used to act as a low Q device for the short

throw. Additi onally, weatherized versions of

the EV ZX5 were used for the seati ng areas

underneath the newly installed score board

which also has a relati vely short throw.

All loudspeakers were driven by CPS4.10

multi channel amplifi ers and included RCM-

810 remote control modules. This allowed

the loudspeakers and amps, distributed over

three rack locati ons, to be easily monitored

and remotely supervised.

The overall combinati on was considered a

great success as refl ecti ons were minimised

within the stadium thanks to the careful

selecti on of EVH, EVF and ZX5 combinati on

loudspeakers.

The general manager at Patersons, Gavin

Taylor, was very impressed with the upgrade

of the historical stadium. “As stadium

operators we are always looking for ways to

improve the fans experience at the Stadium.

The recent installati on of new screens and

sound system has provided fans with a state

of the art audio visual experience.

“The project was delivered within ti ght

ti me-frames and installed into a diffi cult to

access Stadium, which refl ected the eff ecti ve

planning from Audio Source and Bosch for

the project. We are extremely pleased with

the quality and consistency of the sound now

being produced and, more importantly, we

have received great feedback from both the

Clubs and fans,” commented Taylor.

In conclusion, Taylor added, “Audio Source

and Bosch have delivered a great outcome

for the Stadium from both a fi nancial and

quality perspecti ve and we thank them for

their professional service during the process.”
