CENTARA TO DEVELOP
LUXURY RESORT IN
DUBAI
One of Thailand’s biggest hotel
operators has formed a joint venture
with United Arab Emirates’ developer,
Nakheel to develop a US$140 million
luxury beachfront property in Dubai. The
upscale resort is set to have a portfolio
of 550 rooms and include a waterpark as
well. It will be built on a prime beach on
Deira Islands, Nakheel’s new tourism,
retail and entertainment hub covering
15.3sqkm. This will be the first Centara
hotel in UAE and is expected to have its
soft opening in 2019 and grand opening
in 2020. Centara currently has 14,
rooms in 64 hotels and resorts under six
brands in Asia, while Nakheel has more
than 5,300 rooms in 16 hotels, resorts
and serviced apartments, with two more
properties in the pipeline.
