It started with a bang and ended with a
whimper, but the Raiders’ just-concluded
season willgo down as a special one. They
made the playoffs for the first time in 14
years, and head coach Jack Del Rio hopes
their 12-4 recordwas just the next turn on
the road that leads to a Super Bowl champi-
onship.
Yeah, that’s out there now. With Derek
Carr, KhalilMack,the league’s biggest offen-
sive line and receivers Michael Crabtree and
Amari Cooper, the foundation is set for re-
peated trips to the playoffs.

Late in the firstquarter
Tuesday night, after missing
five shots, Kevin Durant re-
minded himself that he alone
didn’t need to makeup for Klay
Thompson’s absence.
It was only moments later
that Durant knifed through the
key for ahuge slam. Back in his
signature groove, the seven-
time NBA All-Star powered the
Warriors to a 107-95 winover
Miami thatwas much closer
than the final score implied.
“It was definitely a different
game not having Klay out
there,” said Durant,who fin-
