PERTH AT A GLANCE

London Court
Large wrought-iron gates define the start and end
points of this shopping arcade that runs between
Hay Street Mall and St Georges Terrace. Every time
the large clocks at both ends chime, one end
showcases two knights jousting with each other
and the other shows a miniature St George battling
a dragon. Behind this historical front, nuanced with
Elizabethan architectural features, the arcade
houses many intriguing specialty stores and
multiple cafes to sit and enjoy observing the
location and its passersby.

Picture a
marketplace that
starts as a street
lined with enough
outdoor cafes and
restaurants to be
named the
‘Cappuccino Strip’.
If one isn’t sold on
just that, the Fremantle
Market in Fremantle, a
port city just 30 minutes from
Perth city, is housed within a
Victorian-style heritage building, and is home to a dynamic
mix of shops selling products ranging from fashion and
footwear to antique collectables and local artwork. Ample
fresh produce is on sale at William Street just outside, and
buskers bring the streets alive with ‘live’ performances on
display while you browse the market.
