A
beautiful example of traditional
Ladakhi architecture, Nimmu
House is a heritage boutique
property located in the small village
of Nimmu in Leh. The three-storey
building was once home to the cousin
of the King of Ladakh and exudes an
old-world charm evident in its local
stone and Kashmiri latticed woodwork.
Overlooking the Indus River Valley, the
house is located at an altitude of 3,100
metres and lets you enjoy nature in its
most unadulterated form.
When here, find peace at the two
Buddhist temples, or play farm at the
expansive stable with cows, goats, yaks
and dzos. What sets the property apart
is its vast orchard with hundreds of
fruit-bearing trees – pluck and munch
on apricots and apples here.
The property offers accommodation
in four traditional rooms and five tents
dotted across the orchard, each taking
inspiration from Ladakhi culture and
traditions. The hotel promotes the use
of solar power and rooms get plenty of
natural light during the day. Your stay
at Nimmu House will be filled with
healthy and delicious fare cooked with
fresh ingredients sourced from the
orchard, the stable and local farmers.
Inside, sink into the hammock
and read books on Ladakhi and
Tibetan culture, Buddhism, yoga
and meditation, as well as stories on
Himalayan exploration and more.
If you love the outdoors, visit the
monasteries in the surrounding area,
trek on the Himalayan paths or find
yourself a personal yoga niche.
Bask in the sun, explore the vast
surroundings and fill your mind and
soul with the goodness of nature at
this boutique property.
