Author Biographies
Marek Tesaris a Senior Lecturer in childhood studies and early childhood education at the
University of Auckland. His research focuses on childhood, philosophy of education, policy and
methodology. Marek’s scholarship and activism merge theoretical work with a practical impact on
the mundane lives of children and their childhoods in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas.
Andrew Gibbonsis an early childhood teacher educator. He has published widely on topics
including the role of technology in education, NZ ECE policy directions in the past two decades,
the educational implications of the work of Albert Camus, the philosophy of education and
approaches to early childhood curriculum.
Sandy Farquharis Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. Her research is in philosophy
of childhood, teacher identity and policy. She is particularly interested in philosophical inquiry,
metaphor and narrative theories. Sandy has authored many articles/book chapters, and co-edited
two issues on philosophy of early childhood inEducational Philosophy and Theory.
