Day one
In the pool, but don’t seem toof the pool, out be able to getwhich is a bit of a problem. It’s no big thing, I’ve probablyjust taken a wrong turn leavingSteve’s parents house. Are theyso rich they have a spare pool?Am I in the empty one? Is this askateboard park? Why do I feellike I’m constantly walking intospider webs?Look, there’s no need topanic. I’m sure everyone’s outthere looking for me – after all,Nancy and I are best friends! She probably knew somethinghad happened when I didn’tshow up at school; that’s sounlike me. I wouldn’t risk myperfect attendance record! Yes,I’m absolutely certain she’sworried. Nothing could distracther from trying to find me; noteven a somewhat predictablelove triangle. She’s probablycombing the woods outsideSteve’s house right now, anddefinitely not just showing himher new bra and wonderinghow his big hair remains quiteso bouncy all the time, 20 yearsbefore volumising shampoo isinvented. She’ll be organisinga search party, she’s definitelygone back to where we left thecar to check if it’s there, I’mcertain she will have told anadult and not tried to cover upthe fact I’m missing.Honestly, I’ll just sit back, enjoy this weird empty pool andwait to be found.Day five
Right, yeah: bit of a weird one.Still here! Have heard a lot ofsearch parties and people callingWill Byers’s name, but not a lot ofpeople calling mine.Trying to make myself athome here in the empty pool, butit’s not very homely. The heatingis intermittent, the food here isterrible – just waffles, so manywaffles – and, honestly, the otherpeople who live here are justrude. There’s one guy with noeyes who just roars and squealsall the time, and never reallyshows an interest in anything I’vegot to say, and Nancy’s brother’sfriend Will seems to be engagedin some long game of hide andseek. It is, quite frankly, boringand a bit childish of him.Definitely should have boughta book to Steve’s party, that wayI’d have one to read here. I mean:who goes to a teenage sex partywithout a book?
