GLOBETROTTER
GET PACKING
Swedish leisure brand Thule
has launched a new range of
luggage in time for the summer.
The Subterra series manages that
rare feat of being both durable
and stylish, so it should see you
through many years of travels.
Packing needs for every type
of trip are covered, from laptop
bags to wheeled cases, but we’re
particularly fond of the 40-litre
carry-on, which contains more
features and pockets than should
be possible at this size, and comes
with a removable laptop sleeve.
There are separate compartments
for shoes, toiletries, laundry
and your passport, and it can
be worn as a backpack or over
the shoulder, with straps that
tuck away when not in use.

LOVE
HATE
DIRECT FLIGHTS
TO RWANDA
Airline RwandAir has
launched non-stop flights
from London Gatwick to
Rwanda’s capital Kigali,
giving UK travellers an extra
incentive to visit this
diminutive, hilly nation
- and perhaps spot a black
rhino, recently reintroduced
after a decade’s absence
(from £370 return;

GORILLA PERMIT
PRICES GO APE
Rwanda-bound wildlife
lovers beware: the country’s
gorilla trekking permit
prices have doubled to a
budget-busting US$1,500.
The move seems set to
funnel tourism over the
border to Uganda’s Bwindi
National Park, where
permits cost a comparably
modest £470 (bwindi

‘BOUQUET OF LOVE’ TO MOTHER EARTH
The stylish beach lounge Potato Head Bali is upping its swank factor with an installation by renowned
Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho, with the aim of shedding light on waste management and conservation
issues. The large-scale installation is entitled ‘Bouquet of Love’, and will be attached to Potato Head
Beach Club’s iconic Colosseum facade. At 10x7m, this 300kg installation will be a hard to miss reminder
of our responsibilities to the environment. The contrast of the collected refuse with the sentimental
name reinforces the preserve effects environmental damage will have on all aspects of life.
