F


or the fi rst leg of your epic journey
along the rugged SA coast, travel
from Balaklava, around 90km north
of Adelaide, up to Port Augusta and
stop in at the Wadlata Outback Centre. This
place is full of Australian history and the
whole family will love it.
From there, your fi rst nights camp is in
Munyaroo Conservation Park on the east coast
of the Eyre Peninsular. Here you’ll fi nd steep
rutted out hills, plenty of native wildlife and
a wet clay pan that will test your driving and
recovery skills. If you take the right track instead
of the left it leads you around the boundary of
the National Park and straight into the mud.
Make sure you’ve got your recovery gear ready
as it’s likely you’ll need it.
This park is a beautiful spot for 4WDers who

are traveling the Eyre Peninsular with your
choice of beach and bush campgrounds. There
is excellent salmon fi shing all along the Eyre
Peninsular and Munyaroo Conservation Park is
no exception. There are no facilities at any of the
campgrounds but that means you can experience
this perfect area the way it should be.
Your next stop is Lincoln National Park
where you’ll fi nd shaded campsites just ten
metres from the water at Spalding Cove
Campground. To enter the National Park you
are required to have a National Parks pass and
camping fees apply. There is cracking 4WDing
here that has a whole range of different
terrains to drive, from rock to sand dunes. Take
a day trip along the Wanna to Sleaford track
to experience the local history and enjoy some
sightseeing on a fantastic track. Lower your

QWHERE:
The mid coast of South Australia includes
the Eyre Peninsula from Port Augusta to
Ceduna. Port Augusta lies 305km north of
Adelaide, gate way to the Eyre Peninsular
and the Gawler Ranges National Park.
Coffi n Bay National Park is only 57km
from Port Lincoln. Port Lincoln to Ceduna
is 401km through rich coastal land.

QINFORMATION:
South Australia really has the best of
both worlds with its stunning coast line,
rocky mountain ranges, and vast desert
lands. From the soft sandy beaches
through to the many historical tracks in
the Gawler ranges there is a challenge
for any 4WDer.

QFACILITES
AND AMENITIES:
There are limited facilities available in
the National Parks varying from nothing,
to long drop toilets and cold showers.
There is some drinking water available at
the entrances of most parks.

QBUDGET ATTRACTIONS:
Bring along an old skateboard to try
your hand at sandboarding the dunes
in Lincoln National Park, remember
your hiking boots to check out the
many walks and bring fi shing gear and
swimmers to take advantage of the
beautiful coastline.
