Once a medieval abbey, Relais Christine is now a boutique hotel located in the heart of
Saint-Germaine-des-Prés on the Left Bank. Despite its convenient location – just a short
walk from prestigious restaurants, galleries, boutiques, the Latin Quarter and famous
sights such as Notre-Dame and the Louvre – the 48-key abode is a sanctuary hidden
behind wrought iron gates on Rue Christine, where a green courtyard and a honey-stone
townhouse promise tranquillity.
While the mansion has been transformed into an elegant hotel with a mix of
contemporary design and period features, its history can still be seen in the vaulted
ceilings, ancient fireplaces and wood panelling. Parisian charm imbues each individually
styled guest room, featuring antiques, rich woodwork and velvet. The most sought-after
rooms are the Garden Suites, which boast a terrace on a closed garden and extra space.
After a long day out, there is little more relaxing than unwinding in the cosy lounges
with a cup of tea, a snack, or a cocktail at the bar. For indulgent ‘me’ time, the Spa
Guerlain is nestled beneath the 13th-century vaults, housing two intimate treatment
rooms, Jacuzzi, sauna and an exercise room. The spa menu isn’t extensive, but covers
essential pampering needs from massages and facials to waxing and mani-pedis.
