TRAVEL + LEISURE WEDDINGS & HONEYMOONS

SHUTTER BLISS
The bride and groom pick a destination after much thought and it is
the fi rst step towards getting a great video for your wedding. However,
the favourite setting to shoot in is always home—one, however, that
is large enough to accommodate families and friends. If grandma has
a house in Coonoor or Manali—nothing like it.

CINEMATIC APPEAL Thailand, Bali, and Sri Lanka are the usual
suspects for a wedding, but every once in a while, an unusually cool
bride wants to get married in a rainforest, and that is a delight for any
videographer. For a video to resonate with the taste of the entire family,
it is important to guide the videographer about the bride and groom’s
special requests, culture, event fl ow, and personalities. The story
behind the couple’s coming together are now customised into the
fi lm in a seamless manner.
SHOOTING A SURPRISE Once a bride wanted to sing an original
song at her sangeet and we composed it for her. Another time,
as a surprise act to entertain an audience, the curtain dropped
to reveal Elton John who performed live for the wedding party.
While happy moments are a given, something or the other can
always go wrong at such events. The thing to remember is to let
things go and not fret about the tiny details because the camera
catches every emotion including frustration and anger.

Take the wedding fi lm beyond a Q&A session
with the bride and groom. Some drone
shots and slow motion shots thrown in
are the current trend.

The big trend for decor is
to have a bohemian fl oral
feel with unconventional
accessories such as dream
catchers to complement it.

THE SETUP
Couples are signed up on Instagram and Pinterest,
shortlisting looks and trends for their wedding
months before the date. A traditional stage with a
fl oral backdrop is passé. Now, the bride and groom
are seated on a smaller, interactive platform with a
photo-op booth. Couples are focussing on the smallest
details and asking for things such as natural raw wood
as the running base colour for the wedding decor.

LARGER THAN LIFE The wedding planning segment has
changed drastically over the years. International wedding
formats have become an inspiration for couples, while guests
treat banquets as a vacation. Exposure to multiple cultures have
led to requests for a chapel wedding decor with an Indian twist.
But weddings go beyond the decor per say. Every ceremony
demands a unique menu where no dish is to be repeated. An
expert team at the hotel thrives on making every detail of the
event elegant and special. For guest staying in-house, chefs craft
special hors d’oeuvres and beverages. They are also provided
with personal butlers and support staff to cater to all their needs.

WOW-WORTHY IDEAS Themed weddings are a given.
But also gaining precedence are smaller details like
personalised serviettes for the guests that can be carried
by them as a souvenir, and innovative new cocktails created
specially to complement the colour and theme of the wedding.
To customise turndown services for the wedding party,
amenities are kept in line with the theme of the wedding.
