A COCKTAIL
GAME
Turn your
cocktail
menu into
a guessing
game—
instead of
printing Pina
Colada write
‘White rum,
Pineapple
Juice,
Coconut
Cream’
and see who
gets it
all right.
WEDDING WEBSITE
“Ask guests to use the
wedding hashtag and
their posts will pop up on
the wedding website.
It keeps guests involved
and people will love seeing
their posts on screens,”
suggests Mehta.

DJ REQUEST BOX
Ask guests to write their song requests
before the DJ starts. Guests get to listen
to what they like and the DJ learns of the
guests’ preferences beforehand.

GET SPORTY
“One of the weddings we organised was
by the beach and so, we set up water
sports facility for guests. There was kite
flying, archery sessions, trampolines,
and even a bull ride,” says Nag.

WHAT THE GUESTS SAY
Ask close friends and family to record
their advice for a happy marriage
for the young couple. Show this video
with everyone’s ‘Pearls of Wisdom’
at the sangeet.

PERFORMANCE BY THE FAMILY
Go beyond the usual dance routines for

sangeet and plan a fun Flash Mob
or a hilarious skit involving as many
guests as possible.

INTERACTIVE SESSION
Make the cocktail bar interactive by
setting up a wine, champagne, or liquor
tasting session with a sommelier.
Or, get a mixologist to teach guests
some quick cocktail recipes.

GO THEMATIC
“We’ve done a Game of Thrones
mehendi where we set up an iron
throne for the bride to sit on. We had
fire blowers, jugglers, and tarot card
readers as well,” says Shah of
The Wedding Designers.

CREATIVE COCKTAILS
Arrange for innovative cocktails based
on the couple’s love story or their
personal preferences. Gola cocktails
such as ‘Kala Khatta Vodka Gola’ are
also a great idea.

PUZZLED UP
Have a photo of the couple blown up

and made into a jigsaw puzzle. Display
the pieces on a table and let guests
assemble them.

DRESS-UP BOXES
Place dress-up boxes with props based
on the wedding function’s theme. This
is a great way to make the wedding
photographs even more glamorous.

SNAPCHAT FILTERS
Mehta says, “Social media app,
Snapchat, has the option of creating
a custom wedding filter that guests
can use.”

RAIN DANCE
If yours is a summer wedding, prepare
a rain dance section at the
mehendi to add a special element
for the guests.

HANGOVER KITS
There are always a few guests who end
up having a really good time at the
cocktail function. Do them a favour by
giving them a hangover kit for the
morning after even without them
having to ask for it.

ICE SCULPTURES
Ice sculptures are a great way of
adding a ‘wow’ factor to the ceremony.
They look good in pictures as well.
You could simply carve the wedding
hashtag in ice.

CREATE A GAMING ARCADE
Rent games like table tennis, foosball,
billiards, or snooker. Create a gaming
lounge to keep all the noise away
from the main venue.

DANCE LESSONS
Arrange for a professional to teach
guests easy dance steps. Salsa,
bhangra or garba are great for
getting the party started and bringing
the guests on the dance floor.

SELFIE MIRRORS
Much like photo booths, place
mirrors with great lighting for selfies
and group shots. Personalise the
mirrors with a wedding hashtag
or a message from the couple.

VIDEO WELCOME
At destination weddings, the couple
may not be there in person to
welcome each guest. So, record
the couple on video and play it
at the time of check-in or in the
guest room.

OVERSIZED BOARD GAMES
Let the wedding guests unleash
their inner child with giant board
games such as Jenga, Connect
Four, Twister, Chess and Noughts,
and Crosses.

WEDDING APP
Create a wedding Instagram
account and a Wedding App.
The Wedding App will be
useful to send information
to guests and for everyone
to post pictures.
