CULTS
Offering
After a four-year hiatus,
Cults returns with Offering.
The album is indie pop at
its absolute best, revisiting
the familiar sounds that
brought the genre into
popularity. ‘Offering’ and
‘Recovery’ are perfect
feel-good indie anthems.
SON LUX
Brighter Wounds
Son Lux’s latest
musical offering is just
what you’ve been
waiting (three years) for.
It is dark, moody and
at times deliciously over
the top – a stunning
reflection of anxiety
and hope.
BELLE AND
SEBASTIAN
How to Solve Our Human
Problems Parts 1-3
The Scottish band has
released a trio of EPs
that recall their glory
days. Listen to ‘We Were
Beautiful’ from Part 1
and ‘I’ll Be Your Pilot’
from Part 2.
CINDY WILSON
Change
The voice that made us
fall in love with the B-52s
is back, this time with
a solo album. Change
is a dreamy melodic
offering that we can’t stop
listening to. Think pop,
new wave and a dash
of disco.
WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO
AMY AYANDA
AB OVO
South African artist Amy
Ayanda delivers soulful
melodies in her sophomore
EP, Ab Ovo. The fusion
of eclectic sounds and superb
vocals makes for easy
listening. We love how Amy
captures ambience and
feeling in every track, while still
creating a cohesive EP.
The track ‘Bicycle Wheels’ is
dark and moody; whereas
‘Jessica’ and ‘Mama’ blur the
lines between soul and dance.
This is a beautifully crafted
and complex album, and
a testament to the fantastic
local music scene.
