Station/pitch
This is your life
purpose translated into
a career direction. This
becomes your personal
identity so people know the ‘train
station’ they arrive (or get off) at
when they meet you. It can also
form part of your pitch and personal
brand value. It should follow on
from your essence. For example:
Building and designing outdoor
living spaces for people to connect
with and celebrate with friends
y.

Industry/
expression
This is the external
expression of you in
the market place in
a particular role or industry, what
company, business and role you
take that matches your ‘train station’.
The industry choice is all about free
will; who and what do you want to

work with? What is exciting to you
on a personal level? This information
appears on your CV, LinkedIn
profile, phone message, website and
other touch points where people can
see who you are and what you do.
For example: Building and house
renovations specialising in pergolas
and decks, working for a small,
d and fun team.

Lifestyle
Where do you want to
live? What hours do
you want to work? How
do you want to set up
your life so that you feel nourished?
What sort of people do you want
to connect to on a cultural level?
Some of these questions will matter
more or less depending on what
you need from your working life.
For example: You want to live near
the beach in a major city; hence
working for a building company
doing outdoor decks and pergolas
in Cape Town. mc

HOW DOES
KNOWING
YOUR LIFE
PURPOSE OR
BLUEPRINT
ENERGISE YOU
AT WORK?

  1. ‘YES’ AND ‘NO’
    DECISIONS ARE EASY
    You know what to say
    ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to with
    confi dence. The only
    question you need to
ask is: ‘Does it bring me
    closer to or further away
    from my blueprint?’

  2. YOUR VISION
    GROWS MORE
    POWERFUL
    Work does not feel like
    such a long, steep road
    when you have a clear
    vision. Think of vision as
    neither linear nor
    ‘ahead’, but rather
    deeply within. And the
    closer you are to your
    inner vision, the more
    stable, centred and
    powerful you are.

  3. YOUR PERSONAL
    HEALTH AND
    WELLBEING
    FLOURISHES
    Working hard takes its
    toll. However, when you
    connect with your
    heart’s purpose, nobody
can do what you can as
    effectively, so the game
    becomes about you and
    your own pace.

  4. YOU ATTRACT THE
    RIGHT CLIENTS,
    PARTNERS,
    COLLABORATIONS,
    AND SUPPORT
    When you are on
    purpose, people will
    fi nd you. They want
    to work with you,
    collaborate with you
    and support you.
    They can sniff out that
    you have something
    special because
    you do.
