I

t may have been a damp and miserable morning
as the hordes of people queued along the Canal, in
Birmingham on 5th November 2017 but inside The
Birmingham Arena, ¿ reworks were being made
ready ¿ t for any Guy Fawkes bon¿ re at the British
TAGB Competition.

This is the last competition of the year for the TAGB and it
always attracts a huge number of competitors from the UK and
overseas.

Over 1,500 competitors, ¿ rst timers and old hands were ¿ red
with anticipation, their enthusiasm sparkled in the eyes as they
waited eagerly to compete.

Would they get good marks? Would they get a medal?

Throughout the whole venue the competitors’ energy levels
created a positive ambience as the adrenalin pumped through
their veins.

Despite the ¿ erce competition, everyone supported, encouraged
and urged their fellow competitors on in the true spirit of the
art.

The competition began with Patterns with over 30 areas
running, followed by sparring.
