Malta’s sister islands are an essential part of your visit
A 25-minute ferry ride away, Gozo is a greener, more
rural version of Malta. A landscape that excites and
entices, all around are nods to the island’s rich historic
past as well as natural geographic features such as
those found at Dwejra and the Azure Window – it
literally is a window into another world with dramatic
rock structures and glistening waters that were made
for swimming in. While it’s possible to visit Gozo on
a day trip with a stop off to snorkel in the pristine
lagoons of the neighbouring island of Comino, if you
extend your stay you’ll get to experience the island
when it’s quieter after the visitors have all gone home,
when it really does become an oasis.
- Board a traditional Maltese Karrozzin, a carriage pulled by a horsecart, for
weddings they are dressed up with flowers and elaborate décor. - Take a dip in the cooling waters of Comino, here you can snorkel, sunbathe and
sip champagne on the deck of your private yacht. - Visit the impressive Dingli Cliffs for outstanding views over the island.
- Embark on a sunset cruise set against the backdrop of the Grand Harbour aboard
a traditional Maltese boat. - Take selfies in Mdina. Known as the silent city, it’s a fairytale setting located on
high grounds where the views are spectacular. - See a show at the Teatru Manoel, a historic theatre which hosts live concerts.
- Tuck into delicious local cuisine at Caffe Cordina (www.caffecordina.com), in
Valletta, located in an old palazzo it’s an iconic place to eat. Other tasty hotspots
include Nenu (www.nenuthebaker.com) and legendary coffee bar Talbotbons
(www.talbotbons.com).
