(Barry) #1

COUNTDOWN TO

Liverpool FC v Swansea City AFC

KICK-OFF

L

iverpool go into today's
game looking to extend a
run that has seen them go
unbeaten in their last 10 Boxing
Day games at Anfield.
They have met Swansea City
three times before in the league
during the month of December,
all at Anfield, winning them all and
scoring four times in each game.
The Swans meanwhile will be
hoping for better fortune back on
Merseyside after surrendering
a first-half lead at Everton eight
days ago: the 3-1 final score
kept them at the bottom of the
Premier League table.
Festive print-deadlines
meant these pages went to
press before Liverpool's trip to
Arsenal on Friday. Ahead of
that match at the Emirates the
Reds won 4-0 at Bournemouth
with midfielder Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain named man of
the match by Sky Sports.
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp
believes the England man is
warming to his task at Anfield:
“He's in a very good way. I like
it, but he has so much potential
it’s unbelievable, what he still not
shows,” the manager told the
club website.
“It’s only just the beginning and
I really like it. He’s like a wonderful

package, I can only say.
“Hopefully he stays fit, that’s
the most important thing. He can
be much more decisive in a few
moments. [He’s sometimes a]

little bit too much of a midfielder
instead of a striker - there are a
lot of things he can improve –
but I’m really happy about
the status quo.”

The
Reds are
one goal short
of recording 50 at
home in all league
meetings with the
Swans.

Jürgen
Klopp's first
home league win
as manager came
against Swansea
in November
2015.

Liverpool
have found
the net in each
of the last nine
Premier League
encounters with
the Swans.

In
January this
year Swansea
became the 53rd
visiting team to win
at Anfield in the
league.
