How to Break Through to Awesome
By Great Grandmaster
Tae Yun Kim
My Dear Fellow Martial Artists and Readers,
Wow! Where did time go?
I have one enemy in my life. Can
you guess what that is?
It’s time! It’s not people or objects or situations—
it’s time! It’s passing by way too fast! Time
doesn’t give second chances. Time doesn’t give
me another victory. Without any emotions,
without recognition, without disappointment
or acknowledgment, time comes and goes.
In my lifetime I have learned that I am the
one that must manage my time and I have to
master my time. I can’t let time take control
of me. Through my attitude, my mission,
and my commitment I will determine
whether I am in charge of my time and can
stretch it, or whether I am allowing it to slip
through my fingers, never to return again.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
We just said Happy Thanksgiving
and Merry Christmas, then Happy
New Year! What happened?
Now, it is already 2018—can you believe it?
Do you feel how fast time is flying by?
As I am looking back at my life, especially this
past year, and taking inventory of what I have
accomplished so far—past, present and almost
present—I am happy and grateful but not yet
satisfied. There is so much more I need to do!
We have come very far at Lighthouse Worldwide
Solutions, my high tech company based in
Silicon Valley, where we focus on measuring
instruments that monitor clean environments.
We held a monumental international company
meeting last summer, introducing brand new
high tech instruments that will blow your mind.
At Jung SuWon, my martial art academy, we
had a black belt testing earlier this year, and
have new candidates lined up for the next one.
I was the keynote speaker at the “Women
of Silicon Valley” conference, the Hispanic
Heritage event in Southern California with
Bishop Juan Carlos Mendez, and have received
prestigious awards—like the CEDAW award
for entrepreneurship and supporting the fight
against sex trafficking, and the Stevie Award
for Lifetime Achievement, among prominent
business women all over the world.
Not only did I receive awards. I also gave out
the “HE CAN DO, SHE CAN DO, WHY
NOT ME” award trophy and $10,000 cash
prize at the Asian World Film Festival to the
film that best exemplifies the can-do spirit
of courage, determination and boldness.
